How did you come to Tribe?

I’d been living in Canada since 2017, and my full time charity sector job shifted to remote at the start of the pandemic and stayed that way. Despite the advantages of remote work, I just wasn’t thriving working alone at home full time for a large organization anymore.

Since a wonderful Christmas trip to Scotland nearly two years ago I had an inkling I should move back here.. (I lived in Edinburgh from 2003 to 2007 for university). I finally made it happen in October 2023, and I chose Portobello for so many reasons, Tribe being one of them! I’m really happy to have found somewhere I can come and work alongside others, and to be able to organise my own days, now I’ve shifted to freelance consulting.

What makes you smile?

Thai food, the sea, visits with old friends, my work, people who find things to laugh about even in the toughest circumstances, trees, and the pointy sauna hats at Soul Water Sauna here in Portobello – a sauna full of gnomes in swimsuits is just delightful every time.

What do you like about Tribe most?

The dogs. I hadn’t realized there would be so many and it’s such a nice surprise. I selected my old dentist in Canada because they had a clinic French Bull Dog, so it’s fair to say it’s important to me.

What are you working on right now?

Building my business – I help non-profit organizations integrate and deliver high quality mental health and psychosocial supports for the community members they serve, largely through training, designing programmes, and doing evaluations. After 15 years working for organizations, I’m on this new adventure of consulting!
