We are a community coworking and creative events space based in Edinburgh. To be more precise, we are based in the community of Portobello, Edinburgh’s seaside. We are a collection of social entrepreneurs, freelancers, charities, SMEs and enterprises. From photographers to translators, graphic designers to environmental consultants, we have over 100 members and provide office, studios, permanent desk and hot desking. Tribe is big on building community and believes that a nurturing environment which sparks creativity and collaboration is good for business, individuals and communities. At Tribe, you will also find a strong community of female run enterprises through our partner, Tribe Women, as well as The Edinburgh Tool Library, Velow Bikeworks, Portobello Natural Health, Sodak, The Pilates Studio Edinburgh and more. Tribe Porty is proudly a social enterprise.
It’s very quiet here at Tribe and we can’t wait to see everyone back but in your own time. We’ve carried out a risk assessment and put new procedures in place to keep everyone safe and give all our members the confidence they need to come back to Tribe. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to Dani, Melissa, Debbie or Hannah. For our our latest Covid secure risk assessment please see here. For more information and FAQs see here.
Although this labour of love building would still be cool on its own, the folk who use it really do make it extra special. We all share a creative approach to life and work and sign up to the give and take culture of Tribe. We all have something important to give and we all need each other, eventually. It is a place to connect, be productive and get inspired.

I love that Tribe is in the heart of Portobello and is a 10 minute walk from my house.
I’m a biodiversity specialist working on a number of large infrastructure projects (mostly in West Africa), advising on how to achieve Net Gain on biodiversity. I work for a small company based in Cambridge who specialise in managing biodiversity risk for business. Personally, I’m working on a photobook project, collating images from Glasgow University Expeditions to Trinidad spanning the years between 1989 and 2019. It’s fantastic to see all the pictures of fieldwork and people over the years, and it’s a place close to my heart having spent a lot of time there studying frogs doing my PhD on leatherback turtles.
Due to COVID19, most of our classes are available online. Get in touch with your teacher directly.
Get connected to the very best right here in Tribe. We have regular classes and ever changing and expanding events and workshops. We have something for everyone; health and wellness, arts, business development and much more. Check out our calendar for more information.
We welcome Esk & Ivy to Tribe. Their pregnancy class incorporates a blend of pranayama (breath) and asanas (postures) which aim to strengthen the body & mind in preparation for birth, as well as introducing postures which help counterbalance the general aches and pains of pregnancy. Each class finishes with an opportunity to find calmness in your busy life and connect with your baby, spending some time in deep relaxation.
