After a break over Easter, Saturday afternoon flute and whistle workshops at Tribe Porty resume on the 20th May with a guest tutor. Tom Oakes is a much sought after flute player and guitarist and we are very lucky to have him come along for the afternoon.
A tutor in traditional flute at the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow, Tom is at home with both traditional and more contemporary repertoire, be it Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian or African. His dynamic and inventive style is inspirational, making this a rare opportunity to tap into a rich developmental experience.
Tom teaches in an informal and relaxed manner. Teaching is by ear, but sheet music and recordings will be provided. Different experience levels will be accommodated within the workshop.
Tom’s website has examples of his music:
Please note that this workshop is for adults. However, those under 18 may be considered if accompanied by an adult. Please contact Gordon beforehand if considering this.
