We are excited to announce a new Lunchtime Pilates class every Wednesday12.15 – 1.15pm
If you want to tone, stretch and strengthen your muscles and body and keen to get rid of those niggles in your muscles and joints then this class might just be for you.
Clare Shillinglaw is bringing to you a Pilates class with a difference. Suitable for beginners and improvers, she has adapted the classical Joseph Pilates repertoire to suit people of all abilities.
Her style of Pilates has been very much influenced by her own personal experience of having a both hips replaced last year at age 39. She had predominantly led a lifestyle of dance, health and fitness from a young age however early onset arthritis caused by DDH ( Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip) overtook her body and her way of exercising changed completely.
Clare’s hip problems had a knock on effect on the rest of my body, she had muscular and alignment problems with her knees, back, neck and shoulders. Pilates corrected a number of these bone and muscle alignment and strengthening problems she had and gave her her health and life back.
Knowing more than most what’s it’s like to have deteriorating mobility issues, she would love nothing more than to pass on the teachings and benefits of this wonderful way of body conditioning. Her main goal as a Pilates teacher is to help her clients explore, strengthen and improve their movement patterns.
Clients can take what they have learned in the studio and apply it to their everyday lives, with the general consensus being that by incorporating Pilates into your daily tasks all your movements will be more efficient. For Clare, Pilates is not just practicing and teaching a series of exercises, it’s a way of life.
